It's looking as if I'm running into two problems with this system, one
in upgrading the BIOS but keeping the OI version the same, and the
other in upgrading OI but keeping the BIOS version the same.
The system has an ASUS PRIME B350M-A motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 3 1200
CPU, and a Radeon HD 7450

Just for your information: the Enlightenment project has a simple
video player that can use several backends on X (xine, gstreamer or
vlc). It's entirely in C.

If it worked for you, it costs looking at. Have you actually used it
with non-nvidia adapter (at least, in virtualbox or with vesa)?
I just tried it in virtualbox again tonight. On a 1080p movie trailer
