the qtprint dialog is - as mentioned - everything but useful, especially for
printing multiple pages onto one sheet. that is because it doesn't distinguish
between pages

Document is a4 and I use the "default properties" which are actually set to A4
and margins set to top 4.94, left/right 6.35, bottom 5.29 mm.

OK, as far as I can tell, that attached pdf is uses papersize:
8.26772 x 11.6929 in (Portrait A4)
Can we assume the printer uses A4-sized paper too?
