I agree with Albert. This is a thing in GNOME apps that I really dislike
because if I accidentally hit a key or mis-focus the UI before I type, the
search view appears in an unwanted manner.

And indeed, Firefox does not do this by default, probably because it's not a
great UX.

Sorry, no can do. :)

As I read this today, this feature request requests that the Browse tool can
make selections. Is that correct?

The browse tool can make selections: Right-click and drag, a popup menu opens

No, that's not what happens on firefox. You must have some plugin that enables
that.

I very much disagree that is good UI.

For future referemce, in English it's Ctrl or Control, not Strg ;)

3. enter string to search for

EXPECTED RESULT
1. open pdf in okular
2. enter string to search for

[okular] [Bug 424249] New: Segmentation fault when closing a tab by using the keyboard shortcuts

2020-07-15 Thread ParsaMousavi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424249

Bug ID: 424249
   Summary: Segmentation fault when closing a tab by using the
keyboard shortcuts
   Product: okular
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: sepa...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---
 Flags: Usability+

Created attachment 130145
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=130145=edit
Okular crash backtrace

I've assigned the hotkey "Ctrl+W" for closing a tab in Settings->Configure
keyboard shortcuts->Close.
Whenever I close a tab by pressing "Ctrl+W" , Okular crashes and causes all the
opened documents to get closed.That only happens when there are at least "2"
open documents in the same window.By the way I've enabled the option "Open new
files in tabs" if that matters.

The output of Okular in its stderr after the crash :
```
KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = okular path = /usr/bin pid = 28214
KCrash: Arguments: /usr/bin/okular some_file.pdf
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/drkonqi
```

And the full backtrace is included as an attachment although the KDE Crash
Handler says it's probably not useful.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open Okular
2. Assign a shortcut for "Close" in Settings->Configure keyboard shortcuts
3. Use that shortcut when you have at least two opened documents at the same
time.

SUMMARY
When viewing pdfs (or any documents for that matter), most pdf viewers have an
option to save an image when we right click on it (evince for eg). It is very
handy, but sadly Okular, being the awesome pdf viewer it is, doesnt have that
and it bothers me so much, it has option to save a rectangular region as png,
but saving an image in a pdf by right clicking it and selecting save image will
be great.
