In KDE 4.10 you can also let plasma handle the menubar (Systemsettings /
Appearance / Applications / Style / Fine/tuning / Menubar-style) or use
plasma-widget-menubar.

Okular 1.9.3 (KDE Applications 19.12.3) seems to have this feature: There is a
"Zoom" tool that allows you to select an area and Okular will zoom such that
this area fills the screen.

[okular] [Bug 421468] New: Zoom farther than 1600%

2020-05-13 Thread Dennis Schridde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421468

Bug ID: 421468
   Summary: Zoom farther than 1600%
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.9.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: PDF backend
  Assignee: okular-devel@kde.org
  Reporter: dennis.schri...@freiheit.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The maximum zoom is 1600%, but the documents I need to view contain text that
at 1600% is still only a few pixels large and needs much more zoom.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a document with really really tiny text
2. Try to zoom in far enough to allow you to read the text
3. Be stopped by Okular at 1600%
4. Notice that the text is still only a few pixel high and thus way to small to
be read

OBSERVED RESULT
Zooming stops at 1600%

EXPECTED RESULT
Zooming should be infinite at best

I would not mind if scrolling at this zoom would be ultra slow or Okular would
use gibibytes of memory, if only I could read the document.
