I suppose that you are right that this is because the Qt 5 print dialog does no
more display all options from the PPD, but only selected ones at the moment

I analysed the problem with the attached PDF form. As far as I understand it so

I tested this a bit and find it really nice that rendering of the actual page
(rather than the thumbnail) usually starts at once when re-rendering is needed
(e.g. when zoom level is changed).
