[OM Cooker] our input into global environment: one of questions for FISL registration

Hi all

3 . Content / information demonstrating contributions of the group , for the
continuous development of design, free and open source technologies , for which
the group was created

Here would be a description of what contributed to the Free Software community,
for example, the development of kernel or KDE, something of that genre.

What we want to answer?

OpenMandriva itself is the biggest representation, where we put all bits
together. Maybe mostly cooker, where we test integration of latest upstream
releases and report bugs and submit patches upstream.

Otherwise, I believe several openmandriva people, one way or another are
contributing to different projects. /me am aka p...@gnu.org and have
significant contributions to different scientific projects, that I
package in OpenMandriva (and Fedora).

We are still far from what there was in Conectiva once, e.g. 5+ full
time kernel developers, 4+ full time kde developers, 2+ full time
X (org|free86) developers, etc, but with time we may get there again,
and Mandrake/Mandriva was not different...

 What we want to answer?

[OM Cooker] using urpmi from chrooted environment to install buildrequires on buildnodes

2014-02-13 Thread Alexander Burmashev
Hello.
For some time we had a rather serious problem for ROSA LTS builds. Because of
rpm/db differencies on build hosts and build chroots some builds ( actually a
rather big amount of them ) failed because of broken rpm database. To fix it i
patched mock-urpm a bit to use internal ( chrooted ) urpmi to resolve and
install buildrequires.
I would like to push this changes for all build nodes on ABF, including
cooker/openmandriva, but
1) I will need to add urpmi and its requires to initial package setup
2) All buildrequires for src.rpm will be resolved by chrooted urpmi, not by
host one. So for example if ROSA build node is used for cooker package build,
urpmi from cooker will resolve all buildrequires. Currently ( without my fix )
urpmi from build host ( build node itself ) resolves all buildrequires. So on
ROSA build nodes urpmi from ROSA is used even for cooker builds.

Please note that JAVA packages will be rebuilt separately perl and python
packages which have link errors should rebuild without a problem.

I have noticed that some failures are marked as ABF failures
erroneously. In particular, the following error:

The following package has to be removed for others to be upgraded:
 python-2.7.5-3-omv2013.0.x86_64
   (in order to install python-2.7.5-3-omv2013.0.x86_64)

comes from some urpmi specifics. You can rebuild such packages as many
times as you wish, but the error will not disappear:) We have discussed
this quite long ago in cooker ML but since then nobody took a look at
 this behavior.

The easy solution is to replace %py_requires -d in spec files with
BuildRequires: pkgconfig(python) (or python-devel). Actually this was
already done for cooker packages, so it should be enough to backport
 changes to omv2014.

Hi Denis,
Thank you for this. In my ignorance I had assumed that because error seemed to
occur so often I had thought it might be due to a communications problem
between abf nodes. My thinking was also influenced by my belief that ABF is
written in Python. The fix is simple and we will do it.
Thanks again and my apologies to the ABF guys for my error.

I would like to suggest that we speak of the long history of Mandrake
Linux, notably the Mandrake Control Center as a project which had been
released under GPL before Suse's Yast (Yast stands for yet another setup
tool), which is a similar project.

Have good day,

NP, actually I fixed all python* packages in omv2014 after sending that

will occur. (I've just marked them as ready for rebuild).
