there was a discussion on porting the SmartOS zoned kvm instances to OmniOS. Is
there still someone working on this? I think wrapping the kvm instances in a
zone makes perfect sense and harmonizes the overall handling of the virtualized
environment.

It is something we are very interested in. It makes perfect sense. I know
@bdha did some work on it, but I'm not aware of anyone actively working on
it now.
