True; but with no offense intended to the OP, if you weren't in a position to
figure out that's what you needed to do when it failed,

Notice that the drive in question (ST2000NX0243) is a 4k native drive. I’ve
never tried booting from such drive, could someone confirm if grub can handle
it? I suspect that it might not.
