[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Setting up demo for smallish mixed consortium

2012-05-04 Thread Jill Minor
We are a mixed consortium straddling the Virginia/Tennessee border. We need to know how to set up an Evergreen demo and so far, we have not been able to make head or tail of anyone's advice. There are two public library systems and two small college libraries involved. We have given up on the

Hi Jill, With a database of only 500 records, and assuming the server isn't going to get a real pounding from those doing the demo, you could run this on a modestly spec'd desktop machine. Say something having 4 CPU cores and 4Gb of RAM. In terms of accessibility, that should be a simple

Hi Jill, Cloud hosting isn't necessarily slow as it all depends on things that are variable. It can be very fast. Keep in mind that most of the big things on the web these days are cloud hosted. But, it may not be for you. If you're confidant you're moving to Evergreen you certainly

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bookings problem

This seems to have done the trick as we now get an error message when trying to check out an item for a period that overlaps with a booking for that same item. The error message would be much more useful if it indicated the reason for the problem was that the item is booked to someone else.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to finally weigh in on this topic. For now I am partially siding with Ben Shum in that we do not create a new list because silo'ing concerns, but I always though that it was never clear if I should use the dev or the general lists for my sysadmin questions.

I'd like to see the SysAdmin stuff live on the General List because that is the one list that we encourage everyone to participate in. On the page that describes our mailing lists ( http://evergreen-ils.org/listserv.php), the Dev list is listed a the Technical Discussion Mailing List but then it

The basic setup does need at minimum the small Amazon instance to have OpenSRF and the database running, but that configure still does not cost too much. Brian - Original Message - From: Wolf Halton wolf.hal...@gmail.com To: Evergreen Discussion Group
