I'm just curious ... what is the reason for having the element Reference?
in the Miscellaneous column of the Copy/Item record? Isn't the value
Reference in the Location/Collection element sufficient?
Is this a case of suspenders and a belt?
Thanks,
Don

Hi all,
I just thought I would ask. Does anyone have experience using this
receipt printer?
Epson T20 High-Speed Thermal Receipt Printer
?
or perhaps recommend one that works well that is reasonably priced.

New to Evergreen and just finished compiling and starting a test server
on a private network. So when I tried to connect via the client, I get
a 500 : Internal Server Error. I have already added the SSL exception

Hi Don,
I think there is another way you can get the catalog to display the
entire string. When MassLNC was testing this development with
Bibliomation, we noticed the same issue and were advised to set the All
Subjects index browse field to true to get the entire string to display
in the
Hi all,
I've filed two Launchpad bugs as a follow-up to this discussion.
All Subjects index should be set to browse by default -

Subject browse searching should display separators

Ben, for Internal Server Errors, you should always check the Apache
error log. It should give more details.

Ben, you can reconfigure how Apache does its logging at the top of
/etc/apache2/sites-available/eg.conf.
Look for the ErrorLog directive. If you're using /usr/bin/logger,
it's probably going to syslog. I would try a local file. You'll need
to reload apache if you change this.

Kathy and Don,
To the separator issue, those can certainly be added, but not without
adjusting the search-oriented All Subjects index. You'd need to (at
least) set the joiner field to ' -- ' (note the spaces!), add a
browse_xpath of '//*', and to set browse_field=TRUE. Then a reingest.

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding this. Will the separators cause the subject
in the browse list to behave the same way the headings do in our bib record
display? I think subject headings in browse and in the bib record should be
treated as a complete entity, not as separate topics. I looked
Thank you Mike!
Although this method wouldn't leverage authority control, I know our
original hope was that the browse feature could be used with or without
authority records, with authority control enhancing the browse. If we
were to display the full headings with the separators in the

We are wondering how many libraries are using the simple self check web

Hi Michele,
We were literally working on setting up a new system for web selfcheck for

different operating systems (sometimes Windows, yesterday Lubuntu for the
first time due to RAM limitations on the machine) and a dedicated
