I really went astray by thinking the official docs were meant for anyone to be
able to install Evergreen. Like Mediawiki, Wordpress, Untangle, Dspace, etc.
As a suggestion, some verbiage might be added to the 2 docs such as:

Regarding Ubuntu and Evergreen. The current latest stable Evergreen 2.6
series only has install targets for Ubuntu Precise 12.04. The latest
Ubuntu 14.04 may not work completely out of the box due to various changes
in that operating system and differences in the versions for certain

I can speak to Ubuntu. I build tests on Debian regularly (in fact did it
twice today) in Virtual Box. I usually grab the files via git though
rather than the wget method.
