Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Any ideas how to include payments from external sources into Evergreen?

2013-11-18 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I wonder whether some of you have any idea concerning possibility of adding
money to patrons account in Evergreen using bank transfers (as described in
Linda´s email below) - I think it would be quite useful to see the problem
from the different points of view.
If you have any recommendations or ideas, please, let me know as soon as
possible (we are preparing the grant application to get some money for the
solution and the grant application deadline is approaching quite fast ;-))

Thanks a lot

Eva

2013/11/10 Linda Jansova skolk...@chello.cz

  Dear all,

Czech library users would appreciate if it was possible to add money to
their Evergreen account using bank transfers (this way of making payments
is used by a number of public libraries in our country).

Our idea is that a CSV file from electronic banking (with a variable
symbol as a payment identifier, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_symbol, and a particular amount of
money) would be processed with a script that we would write. The script
output would call an OpenSRF function or insert data into a table.

If the first method (calling a function) was used, which OpenSRF function
should be called in order to enable adding money to a particular user
account (using a user account ID as a variable – or other identifier from
the electronic banking data – and an amount of money)?

If the second method (inserting data into a table) was used, which are the
tables into which the data should be inserted and how should the insertion
 be done?

Which of these methods would you recommend?

(Indeed, if there are any other options, we will be more than happy to
 hear about them :-).)

A programmer would do this work for us (provided that we are awarded grant
money for this purpose – the grant writing activities are just underway)
and we would definitely share the results of our work with the Evergreen
 community.

Thank you in advance for any hints!

Linda and Vaclav Jansovi (and especially Eva Cerninakova from Jabok
Library who is about to submit the grant application :-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] second call for merchandising volunteers

2013-11-18 Thread Rogan Hamby
Good mornings and afternoons,

This is the second call for folks who may be interested in working in a
group developing merchandise for the Evergreen community. We had some
interest from the first call for volunteers (1 response) and could use a
few more if anyone else is interested.

Is anyone using the CompuType GX430t for spine label printing? We have a

the library was required to hire someone to get the printer to work with VTLS

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Second call for site selection volunteers

2013-11-18 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi all,

Today must be second call for volunteers day in the Evergreen
community. I have a volunteer to serve as a vendor rep on the site
selection committee for the 2015 conference, but I haven't gotten any
volunteers to serve as one of the two at-large reps from the community.
I guess this means I didn't do a good enough job of selling this
wonderful opportunity to the rest of the community.

For those who have been looking to get involved in the Evergreen
community, this is a great way to help out without making a long-term
commitment. The site selection process just takes a couple of months and
involves putting out a call for proposals for potential conference hosts
and evaluating these proposals. The hard work is done by the sites
submitting proposals. The work of the committee is done through
conference calls and e-mails.

If you're interested, let me know so that we can get this process started.

Thanks all!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] We need your feedback on conference program proposals

2013-11-18 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi all!

Let us know which programs you want to see at next year's conference!

The Evergreen Conference Program Committee is asking community members
who are likely to go to this year's conference to fill out the survey at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/eg14-program-selection to let us know
which of the proposed programs you would like to see at this year's
conference.

The feedback will not only be useful as we select programs, but will
also give us an idea for which programs we should expect to see high
attendance.

There is no limit to the number of programs you can select in the
survey. We ask that you consider the following criteria when selecting
programs:

* Would you be interested in attending the program?
* Do you think the program will provide useful information?
* Does the program provide new information that hasn't been covered before?
* Will the program provide some value to the Evergreen community?

The feedback will just be one factor used by the Program Committee when
selecting programs.

All feedback must be submitted by the end of the day Tuesday, December 3.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Oops! I forgot to send along the link for the full descriptions for the
proposals. You can read up on all of the proposals at
http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=conference:2014:proposals. I
recommend keeping the descriptions open in one tab while filling out the
survey in another tab so that you can easily flip back and forth between
the two.
