We've been struggling to get Evergreen Acquistions set up and working, and are
gaining ground.
But it's time for us to evaluate the pro/con of even using an acquisition
module, vs. using some other method.

I've got 3 questions for everyone...

1) Do you use Evergreen Acqisitions and if yes, do you use it all or only
some portion of it.

2) If you do not use Evergreen Acquistions, do you use some other
Acquistion software and if yes, what is it.

3) If you do not use any Acquisition software, what method do you use to
keep track of funds/ encumbrances/ect.?

I'm posting this same question to the Cataloging group.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] FW: Evergreen Acquistions vs some other method

2015-11-09 Thread Dan Scott
We use Evergreen Acquisitions. I'm not sure it's possible to use all of it,
there's a lot there. What we use is basic Fund management, POs, and
invoices so that selectors can track their budgets accurately over the
course of the year. We're not using EDI or MARC Order Records yet.

We treat everything the same, whether electronic or print. For electronic
resources (databases or journals), we have a regular MARC record with a $9
856 and add a copy that is not OPAC-visible to serve as the link between
the PO, the invoice, and the item in the catalogue.

I run a bit of SQL to populate publicly visible bookbags with the most
recent orders for each fund so that we can advertise our most recent orders
for a given subject easily.

At some point we'll mix in MARC Order Records, but we want to ensure the
manual process is solid before we automate more.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Telephone notification

2015-11-09 Thread Josh Stompro
We went live with making automated hold pickup calls 2 weeks ago using the
telephony setup included in the Evergreen repo and I love it. It took me quite
a bit of time to setup, there are many pieces to getting it going, but once it
is done it works great. A big huge thank you to Lebbeous Fogle-Weekley and Joe
Atzberger for the code and all the docs and examples.

Using flowrout as our SIP provider we can place ~50 calls at a time, and the
cost is so cheap, less than a penny a minute. Along with the fact that the
callerID can be customized for each call so customers can redial from the CID
and get back to their library make it way way better than our old system that
just had a single POTS line.

I ran into some issues with various items, and differences between what is in
the docs vs what worked on Debian that I'll try to document also.

I'm working on filling in some of the pieces in the docs that were left as
TODO. I've got the Holidays section done.
https://gist.github.com/stompro/6ac6607c35a32eebbd7a/revisions

I'm also planning on updating the "Rollover of failed notices" section and the
revalidation section. The revalidation seems to just work, I just had to
uncomment the line and put in the correct hostname, and calls get validated
before they are queued. I didn't need to do anything to setup the justintime
service.

I don't see any docs on setting up the smart retry feature. Could someone give
me an example of how that script is used in the asterisk dialplan.
http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=blob;f=Open-ILS/src/asterisk/pbx-daemon/eg-pbx-smart-retry.pl;h=9766113994d54bea53d163e9aa7dc7645d926f84;hb=0c9929ed83510f8180144c3935fdcd77f4d609eb

Hi Jennifer,

"In House Use" is one of the "Core Sources" available in the reports interface.
That should give you a good starting place for creating a template.

Does that help?

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Circ Stats - in house use? Report to use?

2015-11-09 Thread Walz, Jennifer
Chris,

Excellent! I forget about the sources dropdown. That is a good place to
start.

Any suggestions for which items I should select from that source that are the
most helpful? Anyone have a great template they would like to share? I have
no idea how in house use works, so I am not sure what I should be looking for.
(and I am creating this for another library in our group)

 Thanks!

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

"In House Use" is one of the "Core Sources" available in the reports interface.
That should give you a good starting place for creating a template.

Does that help?

Chris
