[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Online credit card processing
Howdy and hello! We're looking into starting accepting credit/debit card payments online through the OPAC, and of course need to choose a payment processor. Between the available options in Evergreen, and those listed by our bank, the choices are narrowed down to: Authorize.net Paypal Payflow Pro We'd like to find out the experiences and opinions of other Evergreen libraries that currently use one of these services. Would anybody like to volunteer to talk to us about them? Thanks! - Jeremiah A. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Inventory
Hi Georgette, Several Sitka libraries have done inventory by scanning books on the shelves into a laptop w/ the Evergreen client, then running reports to identify missing items. For details see past discussion on this list at http://markmail.org/message/2yxyv4kwtdxb7h4s Jeremy -- Jeremy Buhler Trainer/Help Desk Specialist Sitka Evergreen Implementation On Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 11:50 AM, Georgette Rogers grog...@libertylakewa.gov wrote: Thank you Aaron. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Handling lost books which have been paid for
Hi Aaron, I'm not sure how your overdue mailers are generated but in overdue reports Sitka libraries distinguish between 'lost' and 'lost and paid for' items using the xact_finish field in the action.circulation table. For items that are lost but still have outstanding bills, xact_finish is NULL. When fines are paid the xact_finish timestamp is added. Hope that helps, Jeremy -- Jeremy Buhler Trainer/Help Desk Specialist Sitka Evergreen Implementation On Fri, 2011-01-28 at 13:25 -0500, Aaron Zsembery wrote: We have patrons who have lost books, paid for them, but are still getting overdue mailers. I am told that this is due to the books having the status of Lost and the mailers sending out notices for all items with the status of lost. We are wondering what other libraries are doing to notify patrons of lost books without bothering the patrons who have paid for their lost books. Also, how do you distinguish a book that has been lost and paid for from a book that is just lost? Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Item Checkout Notes
Hi James, It sounds like the Alert Message in the copy record will meet your needs. Sitka documentation on using this field for copy alerts is at http://coconut.pines.bclibrary.ca:21080/docbook/Sitka/current/html/ch13.html Cheers, Jeremy -- Jeremy Buhler Trainer/Help Desk Specialist Sitka Evergreen Implementation jbuh...@sitka.bclibraries.ca On Sat, 2010-09-18 at 15:21 -0400, James Wagner wrote: We would like to be able to associate notes with an item when it is checked out. Hi Rebecca, An earlier email exchange about Evergreen inventory (including an outline of Sitka's report-based approach) is in the mailing list archives at http://georgialibraries.markmail.org/message/2yxyv4kwtdxb7h4s Jeremy Buhler Trainer/Help Desk Specialist Sitka Evergreen Implementation jbuh...@sitka.bclibraries.ca On Wed, 2010-04-21 at 10:50 -0800, Rebecca Heaton wrote: I’m trying to figure out how to do inventory with Evergreen. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Inventory Option in Evergreen
Hi Catherine, One of the Sitka libraries undertook an inventory project using a laptop and wireless connection to check in all the books on the shelves. Check in (and other circ transactions) sets the last edited date in the copy record. If a copy was already available there's no harm done by checking in again, apart from status reverting to 'reshelving' for a short period. When finished they generated a report of items whose last edit date preceded the start of scanning, thus identifying items that hadn't been 'seen' by EG during the inventory period. Lost, claimed returned, and other incorrectly marked items were identified and corrected during the scan. Other Sitka libraries have expressed interest in inventory projects, we'd also love to hear of other approaches or refinements. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] OPAC Visible Question
Hi Amy, As Cynthia and Elaine mentioned, bib records for OPAC invisible items appear in the staff client search results. On the item details page, however, the specific copy info (barcode, call number, etc) does not display if you are in OPAC view. Switching to the 'Holdings maintenance' view (under 'Actions for this Record') should reveal the missing holdings records. [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Adding custom fields to OPAC display
We are configuring Evergreen 1.2.3.1 and would like the OPAC to show additional information in the default view for bib records. In addition to showing the Abstract, for example, we would like to create a new line for local notes with data derived from the MARC record. I understand this will involve changes to /xml/rdetail/rdetail_summary.xml and have successfully created new rows in the table, but I'm not sure how to populate the rows with data from the MARC record. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jeremy Buhler Law Society of British Columbia
