[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] inventory question

2011-07-13 Thread Gordana Vitez
Hi everyone,

We're planning inventory for our libraries and I was thinking of using laptops
with metrologic scanners to check in items as we go along the shelves. I know
this is probably a tough question to answer, but do you think using a wireless
connection would be unwise for this task? Would it make more sense to use
off-line circ?

Thanks!
Gordana

It is going to depend on the strength of your wireless.
As long as signal is good you should not have a problem.

2011-07-13 Thread Mary Toma
I use wireless for many tasks when I am in my 4 branches with my laptop.
I've never done inventory but I see no reason why that would be any
different. We're rebarcoding some of our old materials and we take a
wireless laptop into the stacks to do that.
