Cathy, I haven't heard about the consortium making this decision. If it did, the time period must be longer than seven years if Jake's materials haven't been deleted before he gets to them at seven years.
We have been talking about this at Scenic in conjunction with patrons bringing back materials after they have been lost for years and expecting the bills to be voided. If the items are no longer in the catalog, it is questionable whether we want to add them in again. If we void the bills and don't add the item, we are out of $$$. We may need a policy about when it will be too late to return items and have bills voided. Thus-------I'm getting input about how long to wait before cleaning up the catalog. (I loathe and detest having patron and material records hanging around when the patrons and materials are long gone. It's like having an unending case of indigestion.) All suggestions are welcome.
