What seems to be happening is that the config files are getting
corrupted in interesting ways such that they have more than 2048 chars
in a line without an NL.
Eg:

Is this related to the issue you were debugging where sometimes the
files are empty? Something about files being cached or something? I
cannot find the thread, so I am not sure if it was sent to the iscsi
list or in a bugzilla or to my old work address.
