Role: Sr Java Architect Location: New York, NY 11201 Duration: About 13 months Only Candidates with GC/EAD-GC/USC The Architect will be responsible for: • Work closely under the direction of the Project Manager with stakeholders from DoITT, the Mayor’s Office, and participating agency managers, line employees, and IT staff. • Responsible for providing high level systems design; this includes specifying the component packaged and custom applications, class diagrams, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, etc. • Coding and designing low level design of more complex features. • Communicating risks and issues to project management and agency. • Using best practices for development and ensuring they are used across the project. • Ensuring proper use of current technical resources for completion of project. • Conduct code reviews of the system being developed. • Assist in testing efforts, perform unit testing and fixes during testing phase. • Create/document deployment and operational procedures MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE • At least 8 years of experience in leading development teams. • At least 8 years of experience in Java/J2EE development for large-scale enterprise applications; • Ability to plan technical architecture and develop documentation; • Strong knowledge of data integration technologies and processes; • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project members and stakeholders; must be a team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources; • Must have experience in architecting J2EE applications. • MDB experience. • Content management experience. • Experience with relational databases preferably Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server; • Solid experience in XML Technologies (XML, XSL, XSD); • Solid knowledge of testing tools and techniques; • Must take initiative, be a decisive decision-maker and show confidence in decisions made; • Must be able to take strategic direction from executive management and participate in strategic planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project; • Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance. • Must be able to provide documentation on their work. DESIREABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE · Prior government project experience (NYC strongly preferred). · Prior experience with public-facing Web applications. · A Bachelors or Master’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. · Experienced with formal SDLCs and business analysis methodologies.
