Purpose
Design, write, edit, and maintain application online Help, quick reference
guides, and presentations.
*Job Function:*
• Reviews and analyzes project requirements, and D48D69defines scope
• Interviews subject matter experts and end users
• Performs gap and task analyses
• Determines information flow and level of detail
• Develops and writes documentation (single-source for Help and PDF output)
• Participates in formal review and validation meetings
• Writes and formats documents to adhere to established standards
• Structures documentation for localization and produces localized versions
• Assists writers with documentation process and editorial standards
• Works independently, but sometimes leads User Experience teams on other
projects
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or Technical
Writing (Master’s degree
a plus)
• Seven+ years of experience writing end-user documentation in a software
development
environment
• Command of English grammar and punctuation
• Highly developed writing and editing skills
• Willingness to follow departmental guidelines, the Microsoft Manual of
Style, and the Chicago
Manual of Style
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize
• Understanding of software development processes and methodology
• Experience working with engineering applications a plus
• Experience in Instructional Design a plus
• Foreign language (Spanish, French) a plus
Additional Information
• Expert technical proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker (structured and
unstructured), RoboHelp,
XML, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
Professional
• Experience with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft
Project, and Microsoft
Visio highly desirable
• Experience with Adobe CQ a plus
