Position:Cobol Developer Location:Jacksonville,FL Duration:6+Months Description: Must have a solid demonstrated proficiency using debugging tools (e.g., Expeditor, File Aid), and a solid demonstrated proficiency using SQL or similar type of query language. • Must have an advanced demonstrated proficiency programming in COBOL language, plus a solid demonstrated proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as VISIO. • Writes and/or is able to read and understand technical and functional requirements documents. • Uses Company approved design tools and product development methodology to build applications. • Creates application design specification documents from which code will be written. • Reads, writes and analyzes specification documents. • Translates specifications into code (modify existing an/or creates new). • Ensures code complies with Client architectural standards. • Writes JCLs (Job Control Language) to run programs. For client server, may use Scheduler or may develop custom scripts to run programs as needed. • Creates, documents and executes unit testing on internally developed software programs. • Evaluates results against specifications and Logs defects. • For mainframe environment, creates test environments at different levels and uses existing test files or creates new test files to evaluate code functionality. • Reports results of unit testing to project team; Responds to issues raised during test review. • Verifies program integrity against system specifications and standards. • Certifies program for release to the next level testing environment in the system development life cycle where the Developer may or may not be involved.
