As a associate in the DB2 -Database Admistration group you are required to
evaluate complex client data requirements and processes, including software
enhancements and maintenance to existing software, and design an optimal
lphysical database. Prepares database objects, design specifications,
develops, tests, and implements efficient, cost effective application
database. Receives general supervision from Team Manager or Development
Manager. Is competent to work at the highest level of all phases of DB2 z/OS
database administration and application development while working
independently.

1. Works directly with data analysts to identify and specify extremely
complex data requirements and processes.
2. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most
efficient and cost effective database solution for the systems requirements
and application development process.
3. Generates clear and concise database documentation, and presents and
explains design decisions to peers and business/product subject matter
experts. Will use various BMC DB2 Administration products and other DB2
utilities.
4. Analyzes existing system and databases to provide more efficient and
optimized solutions.

Abilities/Skills:
At least the last 2 years working as a DB2 DBA
Working knowledge of ERWin (or similar data modeling tool, primarily for the
physical side of the model)
Working knowledge of ER modeling concepts
Working knowledge of DB2 DBMS - catalog, tables, indexes, relationships,
etc.
Working knowledge of DB2 Utilities and BMC Utilities (or some other 3rd
party vendor)
Demonstrated ability for physical database design; e.g., interpret Logical
Data model/First Cut physical and apply addition physical attribution,
denormalization, etc. based on processing requirements
Demonstrated ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
Ability to communicate with mid-level PTG managers and developers to confirm
physical model based on processing requirements
Working knowledge of DB2 tuning would be a plus, but not critical at this
point
Working knowledge of distributed access to DB2 and DB2/Connect a plus, but
not critical
