*Cognos BA, 5-8 month contract, Candidate performs work under supervision and regularly reports to a manager or team lead. Self-sufficient on some work, but still learning to become independent in day-to-day task completion. Responsible for assisting in development of new solutions, maintaining and developing new features for existing solutions, providing internal and external training and second level support for business systems. Works with various business customers to understand, document and design business and technical solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity. Candidates for this position need a strong background in all aspects of database technology with emphasis on the use of analytical and reporting tools. In addition, candidate should have excellent understanding of customer needs and business strategy. Required Experience Requires 3-5 years of experience working within information technology Requires 3+ years of business systems analysis and Financial/Accounting experience Prefer a previous SQL programming background Requires understanding of SQL data concepts. Must have a successful track record working under pressure and tight deadlines Requires 3+ years of working on projects with an established system development life cycle Knowledge of economic and accounting principles, the financial markets, and reporting of financial data Strong project skills, including the ability to conceptualize and implement analytic projects from beginning to end across multiple departments including IT Finance Proficiency in SQL queries to analyze, manipulate data, investigate data problems, and develop/modify reports Generate reports and analysis Perform ad hoc research and discovery to help guide IT Finance Work with IT to audit data feeds to ensure integrity Create test-and-learn environment to allow for continuous business and strategic improvement through advanced analytical analysis Demonstrated experience in analysis and presentation of data required Experience working with a variety of information systems and data files, including large and complex files: analyzing file structure, using and creating file layouts, transforming raw data into finished products Strong communication skills, both written and spoken Comfortable working independently, with experience working in a team environment, should be able to collaborate well with others, and excel in fast paced, creative environment. A graduate degree in accounting, Finance from an accredited university is required. Previous Financial Planning & Analysis experience a definite asset. Must have Experience working with COGNOS Report Studio.
