Prefer candidates local to the east coast. * *Position #2: VMWare Conversion Engineer* *Duration: 9 months* A lot of the actual work these resources could end up doing may end up on weekends and after hours depending on schedules from owners. So any candidate will need to have a very flexible work schedule. Job Description: Part of a team responsible for the implementation of Physical to Virtual (P2V) conversions for the Staples Virtual Consolidation project. Will plan, schedule, coordinate, and perform P2V conversions of Windows and/or Linux servers. A high degree of scheduling flexibility will be required • Will coordinate with System Owners and other team members on schedules for P2V conversions. • Will be responsible for ensuring proper change control processes are followed for all conversion activities. • Will assist in development of and will implement procedures for P2V conversions of Windows and/or Linux Systems. • Will use available tools and skills to perform P2V conversions, including troubleshooting and process improvement. • Provides technical support for Staples' business unit representatives and IS organizations as required. • Maintains relationships with third party technical support providers. • Identifies areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed. • Maintains all relevant documentation. • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. • Participates in related industry organizations and special interest groups. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required • 3yrs Experience with VMWare, Windows and/or Linux • One or more of the following certifications (highly desired): VCP, RHCT, MCP • Familiarity with specifics of VMWare Virtual Center, Update Manager, Converter, and Platespin a plus • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills • Effective written and verbal communication skills -- Thanks & Regards..
