I'm having problems running openafs-client on my desktop. I installed it
using sudo apt-get install openafs-client, and when I try sudo service
openafs-client start it just shows:

Could it be that the kernel module is missing? The openafs-client package

Solved! While building the modules as Sergio suggested (no errors, just
warnings during building), I suddenly remembered that I had changed the default
gcc compiler on my system to gcc 4.1 instead of the latest 4.4 to make some
other software happy. When I switched it back to gcc 4.4,
do you have dynroot enabled? consider enabling it?
