Dear DX'ers, Could some one please tell me why various openDX processes want Internet access (when I launch DX) and at what point it is safe to disconnect? Some of these processes are: STARTUPUI.EXE, TUTOR.EXE, DXUI.EXE, DXEXEC.EXE. Allen H. Nugent Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering

This is do to the fact that it is trying to connect via a socket (communication between the exec and the ui). What you can do is set the environment variable DXHOST to unix, and this may tell it to not use the socket. You should be able to disconnect from the Internet at any time after it
