Thanks for the notification :) I'd be cautious: although it is a good step forward, it only encompasses 10 patents (all related to MapReduce which has already caused issues: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2010/01/googles-mapreduce-patent-what-does-it-mean-for-hadoop/). Google says
