US Federal CIO Vivek Kundra spoke about the US government identity initiative
during the O'Reilly Gov 2.0 conference this morning. His remarks were in the
context of things he is doing to make government's IT investments more
efficient.
He gave the example of making campground reservations at
In the campground example, the government probably wants your email
address so that they can send you a confirmation email, and also
notifications about the reservation.
Also, for practical purposes, they'd probably need your name, and maybe
even your postal address and phone number.
