When you say I installed mplayer and found that libmlib was missing from /usr/lib. What do you mean? To the best of my knowledge mplayer is not part of any Solaris distro. BTW, I have compiled mplayer myslef and there is no dependency on libmlib: $ ldd /opt/gnu/bin/amd64/mplayer
