I spent some time searching for instructions how to use newer (is it
true?) JDS from jds.openindiana.org publisher
(http://pkg.opensolaris.cz:1/) on top of my OI /hipster installation:
$ pkg publisher
PUBLISHER TYPE STATUS P LOCATION
openindiana.org

the first step is to have openindiana.org set as non-sticky.
But I do not believe it is safe to use OI JDS on top of hipster because
hipster contains own set of libs, different from OIdev. But you can try.

Hipster IPS needs cleanup and catalog reindexing to remove legacy cruft.
OI-JDS is missing a few updates from the latest upstream JDS (like latest
Brasero patches).
Suggest virgin build of OI-JDS on hipster ISO release for testing baseline.
