Hmm seems like /255/63 is so embedded that either VMware or illumos is
overriding what I put in the vmdk file. I managed to get an aligned msdos
partition by using parted, however still haven't managed to get an aligned
solaris partition within that (always seems to pick up the /255/63 geometry

The only way to circumvent this is using sudo, which is a bit
difficult to use in menus (as gksu -S -u root), I tried, but
somehow it fails to get the password window open.
Maybe you might be able to get beesu to work.
