Got it!
You need to enable three services to enable mounting of nfs via vfstab at boot:
nfs/nlockmgr
nfs/status
nfs/client
I noticed that nfs/client was still offline after boot, but once I mounted
manually, I got
those three services online.
You just need to set them enabled, and they'll work at
Hi,
I noticed that the memory consumption of an OpenIndiana text-only plus some
self-built daemons (apache,postfix,cyrus,postgres.) is a lot more than a
text-only Solaris 10 plus same daemons.
While the second can run inside VirtualBox with just 1GB of RAM, the first one
needs at least 1.5-1
Hi,
my supermicro has Matrox card, but the system shows a vgatext driver and
desktop enhancements
are not working (white screen).
How can I activate the Matrox driver?
Thanx

Hi,
is there any way to build an OpenIndiana customized installation iso with added
features?
I'd need the initial setup to ask some more few questions, explode an
additional tar.gz, run
some additional scripts.
Thanx a lot,
Gabriele.

It's just our own distribution of mixed software, both opensource and our own.
We're moving everything from Solaris 10 to OpenIndiana.
I was thinking to be able to have an iso installer that will place everything
as we need in one shot,
leaving us the hassle of installing and configuring after OS
Thanx a lot for the pointers :) I read OI wiki link already, but Oracle one
seems to contain more
detailed instructions about customization.
I'm playing with it.
BTW, what if I need to customize the gui-installer?

Hi,
I was wandering if there is any way to permanently delete a file from one or
more snapshots.
It may happen the need to delete a very big file from the file system, and
realize that the
available space is still the same, because some snapshots are still holding the
file.
Any clue?
Gabriele.

Hi,
anyone knows a way to let distro_const cache the downloaded packages from IPS,
avoiding
download on every run???

Hi,
I could manage to create my custom OI iso bundled with the software I need,
preconfigured
system settings and modified grub screen.
What is the level of customization of the boot sequence?
I'd like to add some strings in the boot banner to show my software version
after OI banner,

Thanks :)
Also, the "ICT" routines invoked by the text_install manipulate the

Hi,
after succeding in customizing a distro of OpenIndiana with distro_const,
adding my software
and default system configurations, now I'd like to customize some bits of the
kernel just to let it
show my software versions on boot along with normal OI ones.
I tried reading OI wikies about buildin
I heard rumors of Oracle going to dismiss the intel version of Solaris...
Is this true?!

Ok, the sources were voices from some Oracle Italy guy who told a friend of
mine that the higher plans of Oracle were to kill Oracle Intel in a couple of
years and stick to just sparc...
I didn't believe that, but was still guessing if there may be any hidden truth
leading somwhere.
