This is integrated into CVS now and will be in the next 2.0 release

Can you try adding the debug parameters I specified in the first email
to the ipmi_smb module? That would dump useful debug information to the
syslog.

immediately.i applied the patch you gave me and rebuilt the kernel. the
problem hasn't gone away. now the system goes down after some time. so i
checked /var/log/messages try and find out why it went down. i did not

I have several servers with Intel SE7520JR2 Motherboard running
Linux fedora core 3 with 2.6.15 kernel. I have applied the ipmi patches
to the
kernel so it seems the mBMC could been detected correctly
