Yoy are right, that is the best way. All examples in the web looking great.

any reason you aren't just using fusion, it has full out of the box support
for mapguide and allows you to use normal maps with layer toggling
and all that support, plus full access to openlayers

Meantime I found a "workaround" by putting all WMS-layers in one single
OpenLayers-Layer as baslayer.
For switching between e.g. gas- and waterpipes I'm using two OL baselayers
with the same topography and different pipe (WMS) layers.
But this is non-satisfying and I'm still looking forward.
Re
No, there are only some filters and scale limitations. If it helps ... all
data come from MySQL spatial. Here is one layerdefiniton:
http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema";
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="LayerDefinition-1.2.0.xsd" version="1.2.0">
so there are no style rules affecting the scale level?

Zac, Thank you for your quick replay!
No, usually I'm using Ajax viewer. There are no problems.
