Wesley, I know what happens on Windows, that's what I'm running on.
What I want to know is what happens on Gnome 3+ when those lines are
commented out. Does it make it run as per everything else does now with
those lines. I.e. does the display window sit on top of everything. Does
the display
Ahh ok the earlier task was to see what happens on windows per andreas
in IRC. To see what happens on gnome-shell check out the video I
attached on the front end of the bug report. In short it all goes
bananas!

This shifts the exception trigger down in the event that we get a non unicode
theme passed through this. I don't know where this will be triggered though
and don't have any broken themes to test with (not sure where they'd come from
either) so haven't added any exception handling.
