I'd definitely go with removing the version check. It probably does
need to be checked into trunk, but that's over my head.

- Make sure you have the libopennms-java package installed
- opennms_bootstrap.jar should now live in /usr/share/java/opennms/
- /usr/share/opennms/lib should now be a symlink
