Dear OpenPKG contributors,

I want you to know that recent reviews of the legal status regarding
contributions to the OpenPKG Project call for replacing the existing implicit
(and in some countries problematic) policies [1] with an explicit agreement
between the Project and the Copyright holder of any contribution. A clean
agreement and "signing" process is under construction to protect the well known
simple MIT-style license of OpenPKG [2] from being undermined by third parties'
intellectual property rights. In order to keep things simple contributions will
be split into years <= 2006 and >= 2007.

That said do not panic if your contribution is rejected or vanishes or your CVS
commit access is denied shortly before or exactly at the turn of the year. It
all should settle down within a couple of days.
