I have seen a problem where a newer NVidia graphics card
would hard-hang with the nv driver (used during install
on older builds). This was with an 7900GT; the exact same
problem was also seen with Ubuntu. Works fine w/ the
Nvidia driver...

If he's got an unsupported hardware issue, I missed that; it sounds like
he gets the X server and XDM up. My reading of his posts was that he's
telling us XDM isn't able to authenticate him but X seems to be working.

If I understand your original post, I believe you are using Solaris 10,
probably the free 11/06 media kit, rather than OpenSolaris. So that's a
teensy bit off topic for this OpenSolaris group but not far enoug
