friends-- The magic incantation in the Configure script that made it work for me is as follows: "solaris-x86-cc","cc:-xstrconst -Xa -DL_ENDIAN -DNO_INLINE_ASM::-D_REENTRANT:-lsocket -lnsl::::", Notice that the '-O' flag is missing. If it is present, I get all manner of less-than-amusing failure modalities. Interestingly, the generic compile didn't work either. Oh and another note: 0.9.5a on Solaris x86 w/ Sun Workshop appear to work fine-- until you try to use it with the Crypt::SSLeay Perl module from the CPAN (either v1.15 or v1.16).
