May be is good to document that numbers in hash dir starts from zero.

The recent Configure may ignore cross-compile-prefix option. Its seems
to me env. var CROSS_COMPILE override it.

And BUILDENV form Makefile still contain ..
CROSS_COMPILE_PREFIX='$(CROSS_COMPILE_PREFIX)' ..
so later build fail with ... windres: command not found -
