[openssl.org #2196] openssl1.0.0beta5 problems on FreeBSD

2014-09-09 Thread Rich Salz via RT
The perl issues aren't reproducible; maybe fixed now if there was a problem.
Make issues are being tracked in (several) other tickets.
The README/rt issue is fixed:

[openssl.org #2196] openssl1.0.0beta5 problems on FreeBSD

2010-03-17 Thread Jim Reid via RT
Hi. There are a couple of problems with the current v1.0.0 beta with
FreeBSD on an amd64.

[1] building with the default make (BSD) fails with the error:
make: don't know how to make sha1-x86_64.o. Stop
The build works OK with gnumake. make test works OK with either make
too.

[2] make report fails on the same platform with either flavour of make:
syntax error at util/selftest.pl line 87, near err;
syntax error at util/selftest.pl line 93, near err;
syntax error at util/selftest.pl line 110, near err;
syntax error at util/selftest.pl line 130, near err;
Execution of util/selftest.pl aborted due to compilation errors.

[3] The README is confusing. It says Report the bug to the OpenSSL
project via the Request Tracker (http://www.openssl.org/support/
rt.html) by mail to It should just say Submit the bug report to
openssl-b...@openssl.org
. It's annoying and pointless asking people to submit bug reports via
this web page when it doesn't permit that and then quotes another
email address for bug reports.

Here's a trail of the make output for [1] and [2].
