Re: [openssl-project] VOTE report: Push the release of 1.1.1 beta1 (pre3) forward one week
The vote closes today with 6 +1's, 0 -1's and one not voted. In other words, the 1.1.1 pre3 (beta1) release is pushed to Tuesday, March 20th, and the dates following are to be adjusted accordingly. >Well, the condition for this vote is a bit extraordinary as well. I couldn't in good conscience propose a week long vote, because that potentially would have the effect to push the release a week anyway, because the release would have to wait for the result of the vote. We didn't plan well enough, and we didn't give ourselves enough time to re-evaluate. That is, deciding to ship the schedule should have happened at least seven days before the next release. I think those are the key things we need to take away from this, not an attempt to change the voting process. ___ openssl-project mailing list openssl-project@openssl.org https://mta.openssl.org/mailman/listinfo/openssl-project

I couldn't in good conscience propose a week long vote, because that potentially would have the effect to push the release a week anyway, because the release would have to wait for the result of the vote. [openssl-project] VOTE report: Push the release of 1.1.1 beta1 (pre3) forward one week
I started a vote moments ago on the OMC list with the content that follows. The OMC will vote on it, hopefully on time, and the resulting tally will be posted here. Vote text: NOTE: THREE DAY VOTE Why? Because beta1 is currently scheduled to be released in three days. A longer voting period would hold the release hostage in practice, and thereby force a push of the release date regardless of the vote result. -- topic: Push the release of 1.1.1 beta1 (pre3) forward one week Reason: we have a number of unreviewed PRs on github marked 1.1.1 and time is getting short. All other current future release dates will be pushed one week as well. https://www.openssl.org/policies/releasestrat.html will be updated. An official announcement should be made.
