Use IMPLIB on the OpenSSL Dlls (e.g implib.exe -a libeay32.lib
libeay32.dll) in order to create OMF export libraries instead

I use the precompiled DLLs provided by
http://www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html. I do not
recompile OpenSSL myself, though I do have the source code installed
for reference.

You do not need to build the library unless you want to customize it. If you do compile it, it can be used with other compilers. I use the downloaded version with Borland C++Builder 5 and 6, though it was originally built with VC++, and it works
