Mentors need to fill out specific projects on an Ideas page on the

project needs to do to apply. Applications open Monday 3/18 and are due

Hi,
I don't know weather I'm qualified for being a mentor (ill be graduating
this summer). But I have my project which Ill be officially done with this
summer (Before Google summer code starts) and would love to know if its a
good idea and if I could take it further and make it more professional.

Hi Pranav,
What are you specifically interested in?
On the mentoring and project side, we need an ideas page better than what
we put together last year: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/GSoC2012/Ideas.
It didn't have enough details for Google to accept our application.
Thanks,

Hi all -
The deadline for projects to apply for Google Summer of Code is March 28th.
Who is interested in making our Ideas page and mentoring? I'm happy to help
in an administrative role but need mentors and project ideas.
Thanks,
Anne

Thanks mentors for your ideas. I've compiled them into an ideas page

Mentoring strength is important and your ideas page is also very
important. Not having a good ideas page will drop you from
consideration as a mentoring org. You'll need a few ideas that have
some details and will get students excited.

received emails from several people interested in becoming a mentor. As a next
step, please list yourself on the GSOC 2011 Wiki page at

In order to be successful, quite a bit of thought and planning needs to
be put into a GSOC project. I've seen other open source projects look
bad by not being organized enough. This needs to be way more put
together, and thought out before I would want to see openstack's name on
it.

I agree this is a good idea.
