I understand that. Feel free to setup a page on the wiki and add it to the

 it to the page openstack.org/events.

I entered all relevant information here:

Will write an explicit announcement mail, too...

Cheers,

[Openstack] OpenStack DevCamp Essen/Germany

2013-05-08 Thread Henning Sprang
Dear friends of virtual computing ressources!

In cooperation with Linuxhotel(http://www.linuxhotel.de/)
Essen and B1 Systems GmbH(http://b1-systems.de/)
we've organized a OpenStack Community Dev Camp to take place at

Location: Das Linuxhotel in Essen
Time: 21st of June 2013 - 23st of June 2013

The goal is to provide an opportunity for OpenStack developers and
experienced administrators interested in the technology to meet for a
weekend in order to work on
development tasks with and for OpenStack or related technologies,
exchange experiences and
learn from each other.
The Linuxhotel offers a great location and facilities to do this in a
relaxed athmosphere with all infrastructure you need for this.

Please see detailed information and registration options at
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/DevCamp/EssenGermany2013

We'd be happy to see you there!

Henning on behalf of the organizer team

I am new to OpenStack. I wish to understand how actually OpenStack

looking for any info/doc/URL. Request your help regarding.

What exactly do you want to know?

Openstack doesn't implement virtualization on it's own, it's a control
layer on top of other low level technologies and as such supports
multiple hypervisors under the hood.

You might want to read these:

http://www.openstack.org/software/openstack-compute/
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/HypervisorSupportMatrix

Does that answer your question?

[Openstack] Wiki Location for Community Events?

2013-05-06 Thread Henning Sprang
Hi,

As long time organizers of noncommercial virtualization-related community
hacking workshops in Germany,
and being interested in OpenStack since a while, we're planning to create a
meeting dedicated to OpenStack.

As we're not a formal organization, there doesn't exists a a website yet,
and I wanted to ask if i'm allowed to create a page in the wiki to publish
information about the workshop or if it's better to create an external site
somewhere.
What would be a good place to put it into the wiki, if I put it there?
Apart from information about the OpenStack design summit I didn't find
anything similar to this yet.

Thanks in advance,
Henning

I know about the following regular user groups in your region:

Thanks for the links - I knew the DACH meetup group as well as the Linuxtag
event until now - the others are new, probably because I mainly checked for
germany until now.

So it's common that people organize and communicate the events on
meetup.comand other places instead of the
openstack.org wiki?

I guess we won't use meetup.com as primary location, as we're aware not
everybody likes to register withsuch services, so it will not be the main
organizational hub, but used as an additional channel for spreading the
word.

Thanks,
Henning
