[openstack-dev] [blazar][placement][nova] Placement support in Blazar

2018-05-09 Thread Hiroaki Kobayashi

Hello,

As we discussed at past summits and PTGs, Blazar plans to use Placement API for
modernizing it's implementation.

Based on the ideas teams shared, the Blazar team has discussed possible
approaches and listed them down here:

We want to make a consensus on the basic approach with the Placement team
before we start detailed design because it highly depends on the Placement
roadmap.

It would be a great help if Placement team could see the etherpad and give us
feedback!

Thanks,
Hiroaki

Re: [openstack-dev] [Blazar] Nominating Bertrand Souville to Blazar core

2018-03-21 Thread Hiroaki Kobayashi

Hi Blazar folks,

I'd like to nominate Bertrand Souville to blazar core team. He has been
involved in the project since the Ocata release. He has worked on NFV usecase,
gap analysis and feedback in OPNFV and ETSI NFV as well as in Blazar itself.
Additionally, he has reviewed not only Blazar repository but Blazar related
repository with nice long-term perspective.

I believe he would make the project much nicer.

best regards,
Masahito

Please join us if you are interested in the Reservation as a
Service for OpenStack!

Here are schedule and topics:
https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/blazar-ptg-pike

The Blazar project (previously known as Climate) has recently

Re: [openstack-dev] [Blazar] bug list before next release

2017-02-08 Thread Hiroaki Kobayashi

Hi Masahito

Thank you for listing tasks for Blazar 0.2.0 release.

I have a question about namespace migration.
Do we completely remove climate namespace from blazar repo?

If so, I want to add one more task "Remove climate namespace from
blazar-nova repo" because namespace has been already migrated to blazar
but climate namespace still existed in blazar-nova repo.

Best regards,
Hiroaki

[openstack-dev] [blazar] Yesterday's meeting summary

2017-01-10 Thread Hiroaki Kobayashi

Hi blazar folks,

I share a summary of yesterday's blazar meeting because
some parts of a meeting log was lost due to a bot failure.

# Action items

1. Share information about PTG if there are any update. (All)

2. List ideas for a presentation at Boston Summit
 https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/blazar-session-boston
 by the next meeting. (All)

3. Continue action items from a previous meeting on Dec 20 (All)

4. Check new features related to OPNFV Promise (All)
 L139- at https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/Blazar_status_2016

# Agreed

* Merge the patch 406009 not to grow the pile of patches and
drastically redesign the instance reservation in the long term.

* Clean up current reviews related to tempest.

* Decide when to update the namespace after current in-review
patches are merged.

Best regards,
Hiroaki

Re: [openstack-dev] [Blazar] knock-knock-knock

2016-10-20 Thread Hiroaki Kobayashi

Hi Pierre,

Thank you very much for sharing information about Blazar.
It's very nice there are still some people who are interested
in the project.

From the OPNFV Promise project's point of view, current Blazar
implementation does not meet some requirements[1].
e.g.:
  - time management
  - reserve a whole set of compute/storage/network resources
  - adding/removing resources to an existing reservation

That's why I want to re-activate the Blazar project to update code.

I'm grad to join the Scientific Working Group BOF on next Wednesday.
Details should be discussed there!

Hello Hiroaki,

I was just going to send a similar message! I would also like to meet with
anyone interested in Blazar.

I am working on the Chameleon testbed [0] which uses Blazar for reservation of
physical nodes. To my knowledge, we may very well be the only user of Blazar in
production.
There was a renewal of interest about a year ago [1] which led to a code update
by Sylvain Bauza and Ildiko Vancsa.

There’s a lot more to do though. It’s been a very busy year for me, which has
prevented me from contributing back our patches to Blazar. Recently I have been
working on updating the Tempest tests to run correctly, but it’s a slow process.
I also noticed that a trivial change recently proposed [2] fails to pass
Jenkins checks: it seems to be caused by new default jobs in Zuul which fail
with the current Blazar code.

I invite you to join the Scientific Working Group BOF on Wednesday [3] where
there should be other people interested in Blazar.
