Hi Jesse,
I like the idea of a water buffalo, as they're working animals used in
farming etc. This links nicely to the project as these animals 'do the
heavy lifting', so to speak. An ox, etc. could be another appropriate
mascot.

the ability to configure Cinder / Glance / Nova to use an existing Ceph
storage backend. The implementation [2] is in flight and has seen some
