Re: [openstack-dev] [Horizon][Searchlight] Plans for Horizon cross-region view

To add to that - Brad, if you're going to be in Austin I'm planning to
bring along a prototype, and I know that this use case is of interest to
others. If there is still sufficient interest it's something we have as a
priority for Newton, and from the few hours I've spent so far setting it
up I think it could be really powerful.

Sorry the for delayed response on this message. Finishing out Mitaka has been
quite time consuming!

Cross region searching is a high priority item for Searchlight in Newton.
Steve has begun work on the spec [1] with initial prototyping. We also are
considering this as a likely candidate for the design summit. Please take a
look and help us work through the design!

view

The last info I've found on the ML about a cross-region view in Horizon is [1],
which mentions making asynchronous calls to the APIs. Has anyone done further
work on such a view?

If not, I think it would make sense to only show the view if Searchlight is
enabled. One of the Searchlight use cases is cross-region searching, and only
using the searchlight APIs would cut down on the slowness of going directly to
the service APIs for what would potentially be a lot of records. Thoughts?
