Re: [openstack-dev] [Neutron][ML2] ML2 late/early-cycle sprint announcement

2015-09-10 Thread Sukhdev Kapur
Hi Gal,

I was hoping you will join us in yesterday's ML2 meeting to discuss
further. Anyhow, we would love your participation in this activity. Please
check the ether pad and see if you could join us in this sprint? If yes,
please sign up so that host can make appropriate arrangements.
Regardless, please review the document and provide feedback. Also, see if
you can join next week's meeting.

Thanks
Sukhdev

[openstack-dev] [Neutron][ML2] ML2 late/early-cycle sprint announcement

2015-09-09 Thread Sukhdev Kapur
Folks,

We are planning on having ML2 coding sprint on October 6 through 8, 2015.
Some are calling it Liberty late-cycle sprint, others are calling it Mitaka
early-cycle sprint.

ML2 team has been discussing the issues related to synchronization of the
Neutron DB resources with the back-end drivers. Several issues have been
reported when multiple ML2 drivers are deployed in scaled HA deployments.
The issues surface when either side (Neutron or back-end HW/drivers)
restart and resource view gets out of sync. There is no mechanism in
Neutron or ML2 plugin which ensures the synchronization of the state
between the front-end and back-end. The drivers either end up implementing
their own solutions or they dump the issue on the operators to intervene
and correct it manually.

We plan on utilizing Task Flow to implement the framework in ML2 plugin
which can be leveraged by ML2 drivers to achieve synchronization in a
simplified manner.

There are couple of additional items on the Sprint agenda, which are listed
on the etherpad [1]. The details of venue and schedule are listed on the
enterpad as well. The sprint is hosted by Yahoo Inc.
Whoever is interested in the topics listed on the etherpad, is welcome to
sign up for the sprint and join us in making this reality.

Additionally, we will utilize this sprint to formalize the design
proposal(s) for the fish bowl session at Tokyo summit [2]

Any questions/clarifications, please join us in our weekly ML2 meeting on
Wednesday at 1600 UTC (9AM pacific time) at #openstack-meeting-alt

Thanks
-Sukhdev

Hi Sukhdev,

The common sync framework is something i was also thinking about for some
time now.
I think its a very good idea and would love if i could participate in the
talks (and hopefully the implementation as well)

Thanks
Gal.
