It seems I setup the second wave and then neglected to ask the infra team to
process them.

Infra tema (*cough* Josh *cough*) can you remove the branches marke Please EOL
in

Once that's done I can do a final pass for jobs that may break and we can drop
the devstack, devstack-gate and requirements branches.

2017-02-08 Thread Ihar Hrachyshka
Has the liberty-eol cleanup happened? Because I still see
stable/liberty branch in openstack/neutron repo, which gets in the way
of some logic around proactive backports:
https://review.openstack.org/#/c/427936/4/bugs-fixed-since.py@75, and
I see backports proposed for the branch that is no longer supported
and has broken gate setup.

Please advise,
Ihar

The easiest option is to just declare that a missing tarball is
acceptable for this last point release. Next easiest is for someone
to manually create and upload a tarball to the tarballs site, then
perhaps retrigger the signing (and PyPI upload if relevant) jobs for
it.

Longer term, we need to come up with a solution for this scenario,
since clearly the current behavior where tarballs can end up
generated on a different platform for release tags than their
corresponding branches use is a problem. Some ideas are floating
around, but will probably rely on/wait for Zuul v3.

Thanks for the explanation Jeremy.

Given that we can't just re-run the job and expect success what options do we
have to publish an 11.0.2 tarball?

I'm assuming this will be a somewhat manual process, given that is there
anything preventing us from tagging glance liberty-eol?

The failure looks an awful lot like an incidence of
https://github.com/pyca/cryptography/issues/2750 which suggests this
could be due to Liberty-era cryptography 1.1.2 being incompatible
with libssl 1.0.2g on Ubuntu Xenial. For gate jobs this wouldn't
present a problem because Gerrit tells Zuul what branch a change is
destined for, but with tags there is no such context so we ended up
trying to build that release tarball on Xenial even though we tested
the changes leading up to it for stable/liberty on Trusty.

I don't know how to answer that question :(

Due to a failure in the release pipline [1] some of the release jobs haven't
been done. The point of https://review.openstack.org/#/c/410536/ was to make
it posisble to generate the docs from liberty with the end-game being an 11.0.2
retagging (or an 11.0.3 release) release that works through the pipeline and
generates all the artifacts. Sadly it isn't working as that chnage is failing
in the same way as the release-pipeline [2].

So if infra can re-run the indiviual jobs or at the very least drop a
glance-11.0.2.tar.gz into tarballs.openstack.org then I think we can retire the
liberty branch of glance.

If that can't be done then we need to work out what *can* be done

Yours Tony.

As Josh pointed out you're not in the list due to the problems we had retiring
kilo.

I do have a request for you though. Currently your gate (both kilo and
liberty) relies on devstack and requirements and probably isn't testing what
you thin it is. Can you please update project-config with a gate config that
will work on this branches *without* the need to keep liberty (and kilo) alive
in those repos.

If you need help feel free to reach out.

Yours Tony.

Hi Joshua, Apologies for chiming in late, but we request that the
openstack/group-based-policy repo’s stable/liberty branch be _not_

Because the other fix was behind a bunch of the rewrite work I'm doing
this cycle, we've set up a stable/newton branch for reno and I have an
alternative fix in https://review.openstack.org/410839. When we get that
merged, I'll release reno 1.9.0 with the fix.

Also, after liberty was EOL'd and stable/liberty branches were removed,
liberty release note pages need to be updated to reference liberty-eol tag
instead of origin/stable/liberty, like done here
https://review.openstack.org/410798 as a temporary solution, until this is
fixed on the reno side (https://review.openstack.org/410792), if I get the
situation correctly.

Glance was late to the party, but it should have had its liberty branches EOL'd
as well.

2016-12-14 Thread Joshua Hesketh
The repos listed[0] have had stable/liberty branch removed and replaced
with a liberty-eol tag. Any open reviews have been abandoned.

Please let me know if there are any mistakes or latecomers to the list.

Cheers,
Josh

Hey Tony and all,

I'm happy to take care of these retirements. However I probably can't get
to it until Tuesday next week. So assuming no other infra root beats me to
it I'll look at it then.

Cheers,
Josh
