week of the US July 4th holiday, and R-12 is the week of the n-2 milestone.

R-16 is too close to the summit IMO, and R-10 is pushing it out too far

people's plans are.

As far as a venue is concerned, I haven't heard any offers from
companies to host yet. If no one brings it up by the summit, I'll see if
hosting in Rochester, MN at the IBM site is a possibility.

We discussed this in the nova meeting last week [1] but I never replied
to this ML thread.

We agreed to have the Nova midcycle at Intel in Hillsboro, OR on July 19-21.

I'll be working with Intel on the details and will be posting a form for
people to sign up so we can get a rough headcount.

Hi Malini:

I'll just confirm that Intel is aware that gerrit is now on a new server
with new ips, as of April 11th, so this past Monday.

Full details are in this email:
http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2016-March/088985.html

Thank you to you and Intel,
Anita.

2016-04-14 Thread Bhandaru, Malini K
Hello Michael!

Quite recently David Lyle hosted the Horizon Mid cycle at Intel Portland
offices – they enjoyed getting out and dinning in the cafeteria.
Internet accounts were set up ahead of schedule but IRC still was an issue. We
shall figure out proxy settings to tackle this.
We are also looking for rooms that have easy access to facilities – the
previous Nova/Ironic mid cycle Intel hosted unfortunately was next to a
construction zone.

And we note preference for Portland over San Antonio in the summer! ☺

Yeah, agreed. Using R-15 or R-14 weeks could be nice for non-prioritary
specs that could be reviewed in a sprint before the FeatureFreeze for them.

Using the R-11 week means that we would already hit the non-prio FF, but
that also means that we could use that sprint time for reviewing the
priorities like we did previously (and which worked great).

So, I'm not sold about which week we should prefer, just commenting
about what we could discuss during that midcycle.

No, this cycle (Newton) is not affected. The proposed change would
happen after the Barcelona summit (5-month Ocata cycle, new event
inserted between the Barcelona and the North America summit in May). So
feel free to plan mid-cycle events for Newton if you think your team
would benefit from having them.

I was also thinking about following up with Intel since they just hosted
the Horizon Midcycle. I'm in PDX so I can follow up on that.

Thanks for starting this now. It really helps to know these things early.

This cycle *may* be harder than typical with:
https://www.openstack.org/summit/austin-2016/summit-schedule/events/9478

Having said that, either of those options work for me.

+1 would Rochester again. The drive from MSP was trivial ;P

Intel at Hillsboro had expressed an interest in hosting the N mid-cycle
last release, so they might still be an option? I don't recall any other
possible hosts in the queue, but its possible I've missed someone.

Thanks for bringing up the topic so early, Matt. It really helps with
scheduling.

Your assessment of timing sounds reasonable to me.

Thank you,

Personal preference is R-11, which is about when it was the last go around.

[openstack-dev] [nova] Newton midcycle planning

2016-04-11 Thread Matt Riedemann
A few people have been asking about planning for the nova midcycle for
newton. Looking at the schedule [1] I'm thinking weeks R-15 or R-11 work
the best. R-14 is close to the US July 4th holiday, R-13 is during the
week of the US July 4th holiday, and R-12 is the week of the n-2 milestone.

R-16 is too close to the summit IMO, and R-10 is pushing it out too far
in the release. I'd be open to R-14 though but don't know what other
people's plans are.

As far as a venue is concerned, I haven't heard any offers from
companies to host yet. If no one brings it up by the summit, I'll see if
hosting in Rochester, MN at the IBM site is a possibility.
